Its geographical position on the Rhine – the busiest waterway in Europe – provides Cologne with significant economic advantages. In this way, goods from all over the world are transshipped to the Catedral City. Due to the increasing shipping traffic and increased trade, the harbours of Cologne are reaching their limits.
